Story
Gikuyu Translator translates English and Kiswahili into Gikuyu, and it's designed for learners, families and communities preserving the language. Translation runs on the Gemini API, and ElevenLabs reads the result aloud so you can hear how it sounds. A phrasebook and history keep useful translations close at hand. My team and I built it, and it's now part of NeuroGrowth's product line.
The hardest part was finding the right API: one that could actually handle Gikuyu well enough to be useful.
